So-Low-Brown - a play on the term "Low Brow" - shows the artist's wit and execution in a style that intertwines traditional cultural icons and motifs with pop-culture references and themes, in a manner that transcends both revealing a vibrant palette and exquisitely rendered original imagery that undeniably earns him the title and rank of So-Low-Brown. This is Germs' first solo exhibition and being so, he has pulled out all of the stops, incorporating pop-surrealist characters that defy description but are rooted in Los Angeles Chicano Latino street culture.

As part of East of Eden's effort to highlight important local artistic progression there will be a be special exhibition of new works by emerging Latino artists curated by Reyes Rodriguez. The exhibition will explore ways in which a new generation of Latino/a artists bend and reshape cultural expectations and devise strategies that dislodge any cultural generalization.
